Athirapally "Punnagai Mannan Falls"

Athirappilly Falls is situated Next to Valparai on the way to Chalakudi in Athirappilly panchayath in Thrissur district of Kerala, on the southwest coast of India. Located on the west-flowing Chalakudy River near the Vazhachal Forest Division and the Sholayar ranges, this 24-metre (80 ft) waterfall and the nearby Vazhachal Falls are popular tourist destinations. It is nicknamed "The Niagara of India". and in Tamilnadu the nickname "Punnagai Mannan Falls". A major portion of Tamil movie Punnagai Mannan was shot near the falls in 1986, the Falls itself playing a role in it. It made the Falls popular in Tamil Nadu.

Valparai, Topslip and Parambikulam

Topslip to Valparai is about 65 Kms. The two small Places with in the (958 km2) Anamalai Tiger Reserve (formerly Indira Gandhi National Park and Wildlife Sanctuary) lies in the Coimbatore District of Tamil Nadu. at the southern part of the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve in the Anamalai Hills. Separated from the Nilgiri Hills by the Palghat Gap on the north, the Park is contiguous to the Parambikulam Wildlife Sanctuary (Kerala) to its west and to the Eravikulam National Park (Kerala) and Chinnar Wild life santuary.

Perungalkutthu Dam

Peringalkuthu Dam is located across the Chalakkudy River. The dam is situated deep in the forest on the way to Valparai. Peringalkuthu & Sholayar Dams, Deep in the forest on the way to Valparai are the two dams that generate hydroelectric power to the state.The 23 m high gravity dam has a length of 290.25 m. The dam discharges the tailrace water into Kannamkuzhithodu, a tributary of the Chalakudy River.One can visit the dam with special permission. An old bird sanctuary was located here earlier.One can approach the dam from Athirappilly Waterfalls as well as from Anakkayam. Lodging facilities are available there..

Charpa Falls

Charpa Falls is located in near by Athirappilly and on the way to Valparai. Coimbatore district of Tamilnadu. This waterfall lies in between the more famous Athirappilly Falls and Valparai - Anamalai Tiger Reserve.
